Government Website to be Further Improved |
Wednesday, October 31, 2001 - Days after the announcement that the Government of Saint Lucia Website had scored top marks in the first ever survey of government websites on the internet, the Government Information Service has itself announced plans to further upgrade and improve the site.
Principal Information Officer at the Government Information Service, Roger
Joseph, says in coming months visitors to the site will be able to benefit from
additional information and features posted on the site. According to him,
“Some of the plans that we have include putting in the public service staff
orders on the website, including an economics and social review segment on the
site, beefing up our biographical information on parliamentarians and to
incorporate the holdings of the government’s documentation resource centre into
the GIS website.”
Joseph
says there is certainly a lot of information that is available on the Government
of Saint Lucia website and that the GIS along with the recently launched
National Television Network (NTN) intend to put a lot more. “We therefore expect
that we will be in the running and in the rankings for as long as the survey
continues to be done,” said Joseph.
The survey, compiled by the World Market Research Centre, ranked the Saint Lucia Government web sites at number 24 out of approximately 2000 government websites in 196 nations. Saint Lucia came out on top in terms of privacy features scoring a full 100% in that category. related
