July 19, 1997 - The government of St. Lucia has recalled its ambassador to Washington, Dr. Joseph Edsel Edmunds. Dr. Edmunds' recall takes place as the new administration reviews its foreign relations and the structure of its diplomatic service, in the context of the establishment of a new ministry of foreign affairs and international trade.

Dr. Edmunds who was appointed by the last administration has served as ambassador to Washington for the last fourteen years. He will demit office at the end of August this year. A replacement for Dr. Edmunds will be announced shortly.
