September 16, 1997 - A Health Sector Reform Committee to ensure that the island's Health Services becomes more affordable and more efficient, has been established by the Minister of Health, Human services, Family Affairs and Women, the Hon. Sarah Flood.

Dr. Stephen King is the Chairman of the committee. The other members are Trescot Augustin, Cadey Bruney, Cecil Gibson, Rev. Fr. Stephen Quinlan, Dr. Christopher Beaubrun, Hildreth Alexander, Cornelius Lubin and Peter Feverier.

The committee will engage in consultation with all parties in the Health Sector and advise the Minister of Health, on the changes which should be made to the Health System, to ensure that the health services satisfy the needs of all St. Lucians.

Facing an increasing demand for quality services, the Health Sector must improve its performance. The establishment of the committee is one step in ensuring that significant improvements can take place as part of the reform process.
