November 17, 1997 - The St. Lucia Solid Waste Management Authority and the Ministry of Finance and Planning are developing the National Solid Waste Disposal Strategy and Plan for St. Lucia. The two proposed sites being considered for landfills for the disposal of solid waste are Deglos Valley in Cul-De-Sac to service the North of the Island and Vieux-Fort Dump Site to service the South.

Public meetings will be held at the following venues to accommodate particularly all Landowners, Residence, Farmers and any other interested persons who may be affected by the proposed developments.

Odsan Boxing Plant - Tuesday November 11, 1997 for persons in Deglos and at the Vieux-Fort Town Hall, on Thursday November 13, 1997 for persons in the Vieux Fort area. The times are 4:00 and 6:00 respectively. The participation of the public is critical to the success of the development.
