Chinese Assistance

September 25, 1997 - The first in a series of developmental projects coming out of the recently establishment relationship, between St. Lucia and the People's Republic of China, was signed here earlier this week.

The signing ceremony, between Foreign Affairs Minister - the Hon George Odlum and Chinese Charge d'Affaires - Gu Pine, paved the way for the commencement of work on a 12 million dollar Free Trade Zone, to be set up in Vieux Fort.

The signing of the first project comes after two-weeks of intensive talks, involving Chinese and local technical teams.
