Breast Feeding Week

August 1, 1997 - Breast feeding - nature's way is the theme for this year's observance of breast feeding week. Locally a number of activities have been organized for the week beginning today Friday August 1, 1997.

According to Nutrition Officer for the Gros Islet community, Linda Philigence the Ministry of Health is placing high priority on breast feeding of the island's infants as this is one way of ensuring the beginning of positive development for these young children.

The target group for this year's activities are the men folk. The officer says men must play a bigger role in the breast feeding programme of their offspring’s. Miss. Philgence is urging the general public to come out and support the activities of the Ministry of Health.
