Friday September 14th, 2007

7:30 AM - 6:00 PM

The body of the late Sir John Compton Prime Minister of St. Lucia will lie in State at the Parliament Building
Saturday September 15th, 2007

9:30AM - 5:00 PM

The body will lie in state at St. Lucy’s Roman Catholic Church in Micoud.

There will also be an opportunity for the public to pay their respects as the Cortege will travel in a slow procession from Castries to Micoud. The body will leave Castries at 7:00 am. The public is encouraged to line the route from the Millennium Highway to Micoud.

The public will be able to pay their respects from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Sunday September 16th, 2007 10:30 AM - 2:30 PM The body will again lie in state at the St. Lucy’s Roman Catholic Church in Micoud.

The public will be able to pay their respects from 10:30 AM

  3:00 PM - 5:00 PM Live Broadcast of the Thanksgiving Service to celebrate the life of Sir John
Monday September 17th, 2007 8:00AM - 8:30 AM The body will lie in state at the House of Parliament in Castries.

Members of the Saint Lucia Bar will pay their respects

  8:30 AM - 9:55 AM Live Broadcast of the Special Sitting of the Bar at which time the House of Parliament will be closed to the public
  10:00 AM - 5:30 PM Public resume paying their respects
  10:00 AM Special School Rally at Mindoo Phillip Park

Tuesday September 18th, 2007
(PUBLIC HOLIDAY)

9:00 AM - 11:00 AM The day of the funeral, the body will lie in state at the House of Parliament.

The Public will be able to pay their respects from 9:00 am to 11:00am.

  12:15 PM The body will be met by a ceremonial Parade to be taken to the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for the funeral service.
  1:00 PM Live Broadcast of Funeral Service Commences
   
  • A Screen will be erected in Derek Walcott Square for the public to view the proceedings inside the church.
  • Access to the Square will be via the gate entrance on Brazil Street ONLY
  • Access will be granted on a first come first serve basis
  • The police ask that the public cooperate in this matter.
    All Members of the Press are advised that ONLY the cameras of the Government Information Service (GIS) will be allowed inside of the church.

Those media houses who require video, are advised to carry along a recording device and an audio and video feed will be made available to you to record.

Still photos will also be provided after the ceremony on the Government of Saint Lucia's Website.
