To provide an independent forum for the handling of complaints for the public sector

To investigate complaints against abuse of Civil and Constitutional rights

To make recommendations to Parliament based on (1) and (2)

To Prepare Annual Reports

bullet

To initiate investigations on any matter in which the Commissioner considers that some person or body of persons has sustained an injustice

To liaise with departments of Government local authorities, statutory bodies or any other authority as may be prescribed by Parliament

bullet

To disseminate information to the public on the work of the office and their basic human and constitutional rights, i.e. the organizing of workshops, seminars and the holding of discussions on the above
