To provide an independent forum for the handling of complaints for the public sector

To investigate complaints against abuse of Civil and Constitutional rights

To make recommendations to Parliament based on (1) and (2)

To Prepare Annual Reports

To initiate investigations on any matter in which the Commissioner considers that some person or body of persons has sustained an injustice

To liaise with departments of Government local authorities, statutory bodies or any other authority as may be prescribed by Parliament

To disseminate information to the public on the work of the office and their basic human and constitutional rights, i.e. the organizing of workshops, seminars and the holding of discussions on the above

To provide assistance to complainants in the preparation of their submissions to their lawyers for action to be taken under the Administrative Justice Act.

Hosting meetings of the House of Assembly and the Senate

Production of Hansards and Journals

Ensuring the smooth running/functioning of the various constituency

Production of reports of the various committees of Parliament

Exchange of parliamentary procedures and fostering stronger relations with other parliaments in the Commonwealth

Timely preparation of Votes and proceeds following House of Assembly and Senate Sittings

Maintaining good relations with schools and the general public

A better informed public on the operations of Legislature

Preparation of reports consistent with Corporate and Agency deadlines

Amendments to existing legislation where necessary
