November 11, 2011 - Less than two weeks ago, we met as a nation to remember our brothers and sisters who lost their lives so tragically during the passage of Hurricane Tomas last year. Once again our nation has been plunged into grief and mourning at the tragic and untimely death of seventeen of its citizens whose generosity of spirit had brought them to the support of a bereaved family. There were mothers and fathers, children and grandchildren, close relatives and friends among them. I want to express my deepest condolences to all who have been affected by this tragedy, and I want to let them know that my prayers and indeed the prayers of the whole nation are with them in this dark hour. May God bring them comfort, as in the days to come, we find fitting ways to show our concern for their distress and sorrow.
May God grant peace and rest to those who have so tragically lost their lives.
