Tuesday 22 November 2011 – The Saint Lucia Blind Welfare Association (SLBWA) has made an appeal for citizens to make a conscious effort with respect to observing road safety rules.
Speaking in the wake of the Choiseul tragedy, Executive Director of the SLBWA, Anthony Avril, in addition to conveying his organization’s condolences to the affected families, says the public should use this tragedy as a reflection on how all persons can individually and collectively improve behaviour as motorists and pedestrians on the country’s roads.
“The Saint Lucia Blind Welfare Association is indeed deeply saddened about the disastrous accident which happened around Morne Sion in Choisuel which resulted in mass fatalities. This accident has touched everyone regardless of where he or she leaves in Saint Lucia. “When we get behind this metal, we need to be focused that we are there to protect and save lives and use the road responsibly. This appeal is not only to drivers but also passengers.”
Avril said since the horrific accident his organization has received an outpouring of formal condolences from its partners and affiliates.
