Wednesday 11 May 2011  The capacity building of unemployed Saint Lucian youth is the target of a UNESCO funded programme.

Secretary General, of the Saint Lucia National Commission for UNESCO - Marcia Symphorien says the   “The theme for the youth empowerment towards entrepreneurship project,  project is “ Achieving Maximum Potential Through Self  Reliance and Enterprise”.

“Essentially it is geared at reaching out of school unemployed youth from the communities around the island and providing them with the skills and competencies they need to enable them to develop the confidence and capabilities to become self-reliant and self employed.”

Approximately 100 young persons between the ages of 16 to 25 are expected to benefit from the training provided by the Holistic Fitness Wellness and Consultancy Services.

To achieve the objectives of the project the youth will receive training in self improvement through positive thinking, communications skills, time and financial management and starting your own business.

“The project,” Symphorien says, “will culminate with the hosting of a major motivation and entrepreneurship conference and will coincide with the Official Launch of a  UNESCO sponsored Youth Resource Centre.”

The project will run from June to September this year.
