Monday 23 May 2011 – On Thursday May 26, the Office of the Prime Minister will host a major symposium intended to re-energise the many youth and social groups around the island and to see how best these groups can address the needs of an increasingly demanding youth generation.
The consultation is being held in preparation for the grand launch of the “Sign Up” campaign.
Sign Up Coordinator Merphiluas James says the symposium is designed to hear first and foremost from the youth, youth group leaders, and other stakeholders.
“At this consultation we hope to get the views from the various stakeholders to see what is the best way forward with regard to their organisations, different organisations may have different needs because they are at different levels; some are at a state of dormancy and others are at a stage of re-energising and capacity building, so we are going to put together the best actions possible to help us engage in a massive media drive to help us re-energise our groups and our youth.”
The symposium will take place at the Coco Resorts on Thursday May 26 from 9AM until 3:30 PM. The activity will receive participation from the National Youth Council, the Ecumenical Council, and presidents of Parent/Teachers' Associations among others. |
