Tuesday 17 May 2011  Co-chair of the “Do Something Saint Lucia” Committee Pastor Tim Robinson, says officials are very happy with the level of interest the initiative has received among locals thus far.

The campaign challenges citizens to do something big or small to positively contribute to  enhancing Saint Lucia.

Pastor Robinson says the campaign will transform Saint Lucia through voluntarism.

“Corporate Saint Lucia is with the campaign, civic Saint Lucia is with the campaign  and the government is also with the campaign and so we really want to encourage all Saint Lucians to get involved in the spirit of voluntarism”.

As a result of the destruction caused by Hurricane Tomas the “Do Something Saint Lucia” campaign is focusing on the rehabilitation and environmental needs of the country.

Pastor Robinson says Do Something Saint Lucia will soon pay attention to developing the country’s human resource, particularly the youth.

We know there is a lack of job opportunities so we are looking to partner with the corporate sector. We also want to develop skills among the youth so that they can engage and partner  with various entities. We really want to partner with the corporate sector to create a better environment for our youth.”

Pastor  Robinson says officials want to ensure that the Do Something Saint Lucia campaign remains a critical part of the country’s development agenda.
