Thursday 10 March 2011 Saint Lucians and other well wishers will bid final farewell to former Prime Minister the late Sir Allan Fitzgerald Laurent Louisy P.C., K.C.M.G., C.B.E., S.L.C., O.F.M. Who will be laid to rest today Friday March 10.

Allan Louisy was knighted on March 31, 2005.

 

The funeral service for Saint Lucia`s second Prime Minister  will be held at the Church of the Purification of Our Blessed Virgin Mary in Laborie today at 2:00p.m.

 

Louisy became Prime Minister of Saint Lucia after the victory of the Saint Lucia Labour Party at the 1979 general elections.

 

The cortège of the late Sir Allan Fitzgerald Laurent Louisy will be escorted by a motor cycle contingent from the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force to arrive in the village of Laborie at approximately 10:30 am.

 

The body of the Sir Allan will be placed for viewing at the Laborie Square from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

 

The designated parking area for the public will be Cross Over Park. The yard of the Laborie Girls Infant and Primary Schools will be reserved for parking for dignitaries.

 

People entering Laborie from Choiseul and Vieux Fort will be required to enter Cross Over Park using a newly constructed road approximately 100 yards from the junction of Testanier Highway with the Laborie Bye Pass.

 

No vehicles will be allowed through the Vieux Fort/La Croix entrance into Laborie. Residents of Laborie and Public Transport Buses will be required to access the village using St Isidore Hill. The La Croix road will be used as general exit following the funeral.

 

Arrangements have been made for the erection of a tent and large screen television to be placed outside of the church for persons who are unable to sit within the confines of the Laborie Church.

 

The National Television Network (NTN) will broadcast the state funeral live from the Church of the Purification of Our Blessed Virgin Mary in Laborie.
