Wednesday 30 March 2011 The Government of Saint Lucia is today conducting a media tour of the St Jude Hospital Project Reconstruction Site. The tour has been organized in order to provide members of the media and by extension the wider public with a first-hand/official update on the status of work at the site.

Work on the St Jude Hospital Reconstruction Project began during the latter half of last year, 2009 following an official launching ceremony held at the site on September 9th, 2009. The Project comprises five components namely: (a) demolition works in relation to surgical building, (b) reconstruction of the surgical building, (c) demolition and replacement of roof structure for east & west wings, (d) renovation of east & west wings and ancillary building; and (e) installation of support services (water storage, sewage treatment, inventory management).

Today’s tour will allow members of the media to interface with the Project Manager as well as technical and resource persons associated with the project and the Chief Executive Officer of the St Jude Hospital. The media tour will also enable members of the media to receive factual information and to make their own objective assessment of the project.

The St Jude Hospital Reconstruction Project is projected for completion before the last quarter of this year 2011.
