Friday 28 January 2011 The Government of Saint Lucia this week completed full payment for the purchase of the property which was the former location of the “Old Fond Assau Boxing Plant” from the Saint Lucia Banana Corporation (SLBC). The payments were made following commitments given at a Special Shareholders Meeting held on Sunday 23rd, January, 2011 in Mon Repos by Minister of Agriculture Hon. Ezekiel Joseph who attended and addressed the meeting.

Purchase of the property which comprises an existing structure and just under 33, 000 Sq. Feet of land was undertaken by the Government in order to construct an Agro-Processing Facility for the north of the island. The facility in question forms part of Government’s Agricultural Diversification programme.

 

The purchase of the “Old Fond Assau Boxing Plant” was completed at a total cost of EC $280,000.00.
