Wednesday 2 March 2011 – The Government Information Service and the National Television Network will host a major discussion on crime at 8 pm tonight.
Principal Information Officer Lucius Doxerie says the discussion will boast an informed cadre of participants and feature a diverse array of informed perspectives on the crime situation.
“In government’s budget call circular for 2010/2011 one of the four key areas of government is national crime and security and in that regard GIS has a fundamental role to play and what we have been doing is interviewing government officials on issues relative to crime.”
Authorities have encouraged citizens to become proactive in the fight against crime and so the discussion will not feature a minister of government but instead feature representatives of key sectors.
“This evening 's program will focus on how best we as a nation can deal with the crime situation and so we are inviting you to stay glued, stayed tuned to your television from 8 pm to 9:30 pm where you will be having the experts at your disposal and they are going to be discussing the issue profoundly.”
While unusually, the programme will not entertain telephone calls, viewers can e-mail in their questions, suggestions or comments to info@dis.gov.lc and comments to Nation Beat will also be streamed live on the website of the GIS at www.stlucia.gov.lc |
