Thursday, June 16, 2011 – “We need you. Come and help build and use your talent,” said Saint Lucia’s Tourism Minister in a recent message to the 2011 graduating class of Monroe College in New York.

The Minister, while applauding the significant educational strides made by the young people, urged them to step out of the box and not be afraid to make mistakes.

He said, “Don’t waste your energy on what you cannot change, but use all of your energy to change the things you can.”

In addition to Saint Lucia there were student flags from Brazil, India, Barbados and other island of the Caribbean—flying proudly along side the U.S. flag during the opening ceremony.

The ceremony began with a traditional procession of faculty and staff and was followed by a parade of flags.  The flags represent the international student body that takes classes at the New Rochelle campus of Monroe College.
