Friday 17 June 2011 Castries, Saint Lucia - Thursday 16th June 2011: The St. Lucia Hotel & Tourism Association (SLHTA) is pleased to announce the departure of Saint Lucia’s National Culinary Team dubbed “Team Saint Lucia 2011” for this year’s edition of the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association’s (CHTA) Taste of the Caribbean food and beverage competition. The squad will depart for Miami on Tuesday 21st June, 2011 and the competition will run from the 22nd-26th June 2011 at the Hyatt Regency in Miami.

 

Team Saint Lucia includes a manager, 2 senior chefs, 1 pastry chef, 1 junior chef and a bartender and will be competing to secure the prestigious titles of Chef of the Year, Bartender of the Year, Pastry Chef of the Year, Junior Chef of the Year; Apprentice of the Year and Culinary Team of the Year 2011.

 

The national team includes Team Manager- Executive Chef Bill Munn (The Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort); Team Captain- Chef Nicodemus Joseph (Cap Maison Villa Resort & Spa); Senior Chef- Andreas Nicolletti (The Edge Restaurant & Sushi Bar); Pastry Chef- Kevin Charlemagne (The Landings ); Junior Chef- Paulyn Eugene (The Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort); Sous Chef- Shirley Alphonse (Bay Gardens Hotel); Apprentice Chef- Scott Leonce (Cap Maison Villa Resort & Spa) and Bartender- Hanna Anaville (East Winds Inn).

 

The SLHTA will host a Grand Send-Off Celebration in honor of Team Saint Lucia on Saturday 18th June, 2010. The event is being held at the Fire Grill Restaurant and Lounge Bar from 7 PM and will feature a variety of tapas, wines and cocktails as well as TEAM SAINT LUCIA’s offering of “streetfood” for the Taste of the Nations competition, which will take place for the first time this year during the Taste of the Caribbean Event. Tickets cost only $100.00 EC dollars per person. All proceeds from Saturday’s event will go towards meeting the cost of Team Saint Lucia’s 2011 participation in this year’s Taste of the Caribbean Culinary Competition.
