Friday 17 June 2011 – The Saint Lucia Air and Sea Port Authority (SLASPA), in association with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority (ECCAA), held a workshop today in the Public Service’s Training Room for approximately twenty participants on Public Relations/Customer Service in Airport Security Training.
“With the stringent security measures being enforced globally and the toll they take on the travelling public, we thought it was prudent to work with IATA and ECCAA to hold this course here. At the end of the day, the participants will be able to offer a professional standard in customer service; have enhanced communication skills and customer contact techniques and be able to effectively manage and mitigate complaints, ” said Mr. Kennedy Francis, Chief of Port Police, SLASPA.
“There are times at the Airport when passengers don’t understand or want to observe the rules we tell them and it is sometimes hard to explain to them. This course has helped me better deal with these passengers and has also given me a better understanding of how they implement airport security measures and my role in ensuring that I communicate effectively with the passengers to make sure they obey all security measures,” stated one participant from one of the Security Firms operating on the airport.
