Monday June 27, 2011 – In what can be deemed the culminating event, on a list of activities for the occasion of Public Service Day, a Wellness Walk and Fun Sports was held. Government Ministers, as well as, various public servants from all over the island, rose early and set out to have a fun and fitness filled day.
“Roughly 200 persons registered and participated in the walk,” says Coordinators for the Public Service Day Wellness walk, Michael Pierre.
“The first person completed the walk in under two hours. The feedback from the walk is that though the route seemed flat, it was gruelling and long. However we didn’t have the problem that we did last year when people complained about the hills.”
The fun sports included events such as the 60 meter sprint, the 80 meter sprint, 100 meter sprint, Lime n’ Spoon race, Sack race, 3 legged race, relay race, late for work race, and the tug o’ war.
Prizes went to the first three males, the first three females, the oldest male, the oldest female, the youngest male and the youngest female. |
