Wednesday 22 June 2011 – “Breaking Agriculture Out of Tradition and Dependency” is both the theme and the aim of the 2011 Agriculture Round Table forum -ART. As part of the discussion, the Caribbean's food security beyond 2015 will feature prominently. IICA's representative to the eastern Caribbean, UNA May Gordon, speaking ahead of the planned meeting says ART is not a workshop.
“ART is an unscripted free flowing communication among the technical experts in agriculture, heads of organizations, farmers, processors, policy makers, youth, developmental agencies, the entire media population around the region, and many others. We hope that ART will be treated as part of a broader stimulus package to widen agriculture and the food dialogue that is taking place.
We also hope out of the gathering that all the stakeholders will be able to come up with a proposal going to 2015.”
The 3rd ART session will be held from the 28th to the 30th of June at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort in Rodney Bay. Several regional media personalities are expected to moderate the various discussions. |
