Monday 10 January 2011  Saint Lucia’s Embassy in Washington is reporting success in its efforts to mobilize post Hurricane Tomas relief support for the island. Last week the Saint Lucia’s Washington Ambassador, Dr. Michael Louis retired two cheques amounting to US $28,000.00 to the Ministry of Finance through the Ministry of External Affairs.

The two cheques reflected donations of US $2,841.00, which represented contributions from Saint Lucians mainly in the Washington/Maryland areas. The other cheque of US $25,000.00 represented a financial contribution from the Organisation of American States (OAS) towards Hurricane Tomas recovery efforts.

In addition to the financial contributions secured, the Washington Embassy has also been instrumental in facilitating many Saint Lucian nationals and Saint Lucian organizations in channeling assistance to the island.

The Embassy continues in its efforts to mobilize support for Saint Lucia’s recovery efforts. The Embassy expects to make further presentations in the near future representing additional support for Saint Lucia.
