Wednesday 19 January 2011 – Minister for Agriculture Hon. Ezechiel Joseph, has announced the establishment of a an agriculture laboratory, to be constructed in the coming months.
Minister Joseph says the laboratory would assist farmers in diagnosing diseases and pest infestation among other things.
“They will be able to diagnose inputs so that the farmers could get that support to satisfy themselves, that whatever they are purchasing are the of international standards as identified on the labels.” The agriculture laboratory is to be jointly supported by the Government of the Republic of Taiwan and the Government of Saint Lucia, and will be one of two laboratories to receive Taiwanese funding. The other is the Tissue Culture Laboratory which is located at the Union Industrial Zone.
