Thursday 13 January 2011 – More and more, environmental preservation and biodiversity conservation are becoming key areas of focus all over the world. As small island states there is an urgent need to intensify our efforts at fostering good environmental practices.
In seeking to change people’s habits and practices, the OECS Secretariat has organised a number of seminars for media practitioners throughout the OECS. Techla Fontenard from the OECS Secretariat believes that the media is a powerful tool that can rally with the Secretariat
“We really want the media to understand that whereas its not crime, not carnival, nothing sleazy or something we might not see; but if you get up in the morning and you appreciate the morning then you are enjoying the environment “
The training exercise is expected to move to other countries within the OECS and Barbados. |
