Monday 31 January 2011 – Saint Lucia's versatility as a tourism destination has once again been reaffirmed. The island recently attracted the accolades of a special crop of visitors—those who go for the active vacation.
The accolades came as Cruise Run Caribbean marked its fifth anniversary of coming to the island to host its annual mini-marathon on the streets of Castries.
The spokesperson for the Cruise to Run Team who successfully completed another annual run here, is Cruise Consultant Jody Freisen.”
“It's wonderful. This is our fifth year, we've just had a fantastic time. We come to Saint Lucia each and very year and we are treated so well here, we just love it.”
Public Relations Manager of the Saint Lucia Tourist Board John Emmanuel says the runners, recreational or professional, are at the end of the day, still tourists who bring the economic spin-offs to the island.
“It's really a fun-filled showcase of the softer side of Saint Lucia as we continue to grow the cruise sector and continue to expose more of what is legendary Saint Lucia to our visitors that come to our shores,” Emmanuel said.
