Wednesday 12 January 2011 – The Cultural Development Foundation -CDF- will this weekend host a carnival consultation with a visionary objective to create a blueprint that will take Saint Lucia's Carnival product into the future.
CDF Director Kennedy 'Boots' Samuel says the agenda will address a wide spectrum of issues that has plagued the event for many years now.
“ As you know every carnival it's a roro and combat as to what is happening. We need to make plans for the future, so that we can sustain what is important to us as a people. It brings so many cultural and economic benefits to us as a people; to sustain it, we have to plan.”
The CDF Head says a lot more can be done with carnival if only the resources are made available.
“There are some short term decisions that we will have to make that will affect carnival for 2011. 2011 is upon us already, so we will have to make some quick decisions as to what will happen for carnival. We have to look at carnival go on a long-term basis to ensure its development.”
The CDF’s director says both short and long term decisions will be taken at the meetings which are scheduled for the 15th and 16th of January from 9 a.m. at the National Insurance Corporation’s Conference room.
