Tuesday, February 08, 2011 – In keeping with its promotion of excellence in Saint Lucian sports, the Ministry of Social Transformation, Youth and Sports signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Castries Football Council (CFC).

The MOU establishes the SAB Management Committee as the official management team of the recently refurbished SAB Playing Facility at Vigie.

Minister for Youth and Sports, Honourable Lenard Montoute says facility maintenance, and proper scheduling is a critical factor in the advancement of sports. “We have decided to enter into an arrangement with the CFC, who we see as an organization with strong leadership and they have a stake- a very strong interest in the maintenance of the facility as one of the primary users of the facility. And so we have handed over to them so that they can provide the maintenance that is needed and the management that is needed,” the minister explained.

The committee has developed a detailed management plan for the operations of the facility to ensure proper usage and upkeep of the SAB Playing Facility.     “So far we are satisfied with the work that they have been doing and we are hoping to replicate such arrangements in other areas, not necessarily with the football council, but with any community organization that we seek possesses the capacity to provide the skill of maintenance and management.”

The SAB Management Committee comprises two representatives from the CFC, a representative from the sports ministry, a representative of the school district office and a representative from the private sector.
