08 December 2011 – Prime Minister Anthony says emphasis will be placed on developing the human resource of the state, to allow citizens to explore their full potential.

“We have already signalled our intention to introduce universal pre-school education on the heels of Universal Secondary Education during this term of office. We also plan to improve performance at the primary and secondary school levels, while increasing the number of young people who benefit from a tertiary education.

“Closely linked to the education sector is human resource development which involves short and long-term man power training, the provision of scholarships for overseas study, and in-service training.”

The amalgamation of the ministries of education and labour is indeed strategic due to the nexus that exists between human resource development and the success and viability of the labour force.
