08 December 2011 – The government of Saint Lucia wishes to reiterate its pledge to reach out and embrace every Saint Lucian in its programme to build a better Saint Lucia.

As the Prime Minister has stated repeatedly, we must all work together as “Team Saint Lucia” to make our country the proud, successful nation it is capable of becoming.

However, the government believes it is unfortunate that Mr. Allen Chastanet, so soon after the general elections, would publicly make untruthful statements concerning an alleged offer to him by the current administration.

The government wishes to categorically deny that any offer whatsoever has been made to Mr. Allen Chastanet for him to serve in any capacity in the tourism sector or elsewhere, and calls on Mr. Chastanet to restrain himself from making any more untruthful statements.

The government is excited about its programme for the development of the tourism sector, as articulated in its “Blueprint for Growth”, and is looking forward to the energy, focus and intellect that the tourism minister, Hon. Lorne Theophilus, will bring to the ministry, working in tandem with the sector stakeholders.
