Tuesday, August 23, 2011 – Ahead of the 2011 Youth Parliament which commences on Thursday this week,  Prime Minister Honourable Stephenson  King has again reiterated government's commitment  to implementing programmes aimed at  alleviating  some of the challenges confronting youth such as unemployment and poverty.

The Prime Minister indicated that in spite of the economic limitations imposed on government to do more, young people should take advantage of the existing opportunities afforded to them by agencies such as the National Skills Development Centre – NSDC and the Social Development Fund – SSDF.

Prime Minister King also referred to programmes such as the Youth Entrepreneurship Programme which is run by the Saint Lucia Development Bank SLDB as well as smaller initiatives to assist the youth at the micro and community level.
