Friday, August 19, 2011 – The community is taking ownership of Serenity park in a meaningful way.   So says Operations Manager of the Castries City Council CCC Allan Didier. The Castries City Council is responsible for the recently opened park located near the San Souci bridge in Castries.

Didier says the park is not only for residents of Castries but should be viewed as a national treasure to be used by the Saint Lucian public at large.  “That venue, we have to tell the people that it is their venue. It was a venue that was built not only for Castries but Saint Lucia because only last week some people from Choiseul came to take some wedding photos at Serenity Park and that was impressive. And now that we are going to bless it with a kweyol event I think it is a good time to say its not Castries park or anything, it's for Saint Lucia.”

The kweyol event that Dideir was referring to in his comments is an initiative to include the Serenity park in this year's La Plas kweyol celebrations.  The event which will be centered   at the Castries market will expand to incorporate Serenity park in several pre-jounen kweyol activities that will be based in and around the city.

La Plas Kweyol activities will be held under the auspices of the Castries City Council in late September into October 2011.
