Monday August 15, 2011 – The Small Enterprise Development Unit is again offering its annual courses. Existing through the Ministry of Commerce, the Small Enterprise Development Unit (SEDU) has designed these set of courses to promote the best practices amongst micro and small scale business owners in Saint Lucia.

According the Secretary at the Small Enterprise Development Unit, Cyrillia Louis,‘If you are a manager or owner of a small business, or looking to start your own business’ then the courses being offered by SEDU will be a professional benefit.

“This semester we are offering three courses, we’re offering the small business management, we’re offering the cost estimating for small business contractors, and we are also offering the pastry accounting. The small business management cost starts on September 6th to December 22nd. The other courses are for three months. The small business management course will be held at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College. The cost estimating will be held at the Ministry of Communication & Works and the pastry accounting will be held at the National ICT Centre that’s next to the Central library.”

After registering at the Small Enterprise Development Unit, registered candidates are asked to proceed to make payments towards their courses, at the Accounting General Treasury Department.

Each course is priced at $450 and full payment must be made before the commencement of the intended course. There is an option of paying in instalments, for persons who are unable to pay off the full amount all at once.

The cost estimating for small business contractors, as well as the small business management and the pastry accounting courses, are all geared at accommodating various persons with various schedules. Classes run from Monday to Thursday.

Registration for classes will be closed on September 2nd, 2011. For more information, persons may call 468 4223, or visit the SEDU offices on the 4th floor of the Heraldine Rock Building on Waterfront Castries.
