Wednesday 13 April 2011  The Department of Library Services is currently observing Library Week,  hosting several activities at the Central Library and  other venues around the island.

Director of Library Services Brenda Paul says the theme is reflective of the fact that this is the  information driven age.

“This year for Library Week 2011, our theme is 'Library and Information Services on the Move: Creating and Sustaining A Leading Edge.' It speaks to us in different ways, basically  this year for the very first time,  we have librarians from both private and public institutions throughout a range of library services – academic library, government libraries coming together to produce library Week 2011.”

Miss Paul says  Library Week will end on a high note., with the  last event being literary night—a classy with performance poetry by both accomplished and novel literary artistes scheduled for to take place at the Castries Central Library.

“The event will be hosted by First National Bank a corporate champion of the arts. They are joining us for the first time this year.”

The activities of Library Week is being supported by Saint Lucia Electricity Services Limited.
