Monday 18 October 2010 – Top achievers of the 2010 Common Entrance Exams from the Gros-Islet constituency have being challenged to excel at CXC and beyond. The challenge was issued by Education officer for District 1, Mr Evariste John, speaking at a special ceremony last Friday to celebrate the success of the students.
Mr John says not only does the initiative encourage students to continue to work hard but it also serves as an incentive to other students to strive for excellence.
“Its good to accentuate the positive and its good to give just reward. The students receiving the computers have excelled and done well, so they rightfully deserve these tokens.”
District Representative for Gros-Islet Honourable Lenard Montoute, in congratulating the students, encouraged them to use the computers and the internet as tools to further their personal development.
“At your age you will have access to the internet because there is much learning and communication that can take place there. But there are some areas of the internet that is reserved for adults so you should abstain from these areas. I am hoping that your parents and teachers will provide the necessary supervision to ensure that the computers are not misused. You are intelligent students as you demonstrated in Common Entrance, so I am am sure you will do what is expected of you.”
To date, 13 students have received computers from their district representative for their good performance at the Common Entrance Exams. |
