Friday, November 19, 2010 – Minister for Home Affairs and National Security, Senator the Honourable Guy Mayers has commended the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force for the tremendous work they have been doing since the passage of Hurricane Tomas. He also thanked the Regional Security System (RSS) for their support to the law men and the country as a whole.
“The RSS came to our rescue from day one and I want to thank Commander Watson and his team for their assistance. On Monday we were able to reopen the Vigie airport and the RSS’ plane was the one that brought back the Prime Minister and the Commissioner of Police to the island right after the hurricane; since then they have been actively involved in transporting relief supplies to the country.”
Additionally, Senator Mayers also commended the Saint Lucia Cadet Corps for the voluntary services rendered.
“They have been very active and working with NEMO in distributing the items that are required right around the island. They have been assisting in the off loading goods, ensuring that goods are safely brought to the various locations and to the individuals that require them and so they have really come aboard in a big way and complemented the police in maintaining law and order and the orderly distribution of goods after the passage of Hurricane Tomas.
Minister Mayers urged the members of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force to continue the good work that they have began.
