Wednesday, September 29, 2010 In light of increased pressures being placed on Public Officers to produce more with lower budgets, the Ministry of the Public Service and Human Resource Development is hopeful that a three-day Events Management Training Workshop will lead to greater efficiency.
The workshop which began on Wednesday September 29, is aimed at improving the level of professionalism in managing various events within the government service.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of the Public Service and Human Resource Development, Mrs Elizabeth Sifflet, noted that the event is designed to be very interactive and hands-on, enabling participants to acquire the necessary skills, tools, and techniques to plan and execute successful events.
The Ministry of the Public Service and Human Resource Development through its Training Division has embarked on a number of training initiatives at all levels within the Public Service. These training programmes are aimed at enhancing skills of public officers including individual performance, productivity, and quality of service delivery within the public service. The objectives of the events management training workshop is no different. However, in addition, the workshop is designed to enable participants to have a better understanding of the components involved in planning and executing successful events such as meetings, conferences, ceremonies and social functions.
The Events Management Training Workshop is being held in collaboration with the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business. The three-day workshop covers a range of areas including events planning, research and design, team work and leadership, problem solving, marketing, promotion, protocol and evaluation. It will be succeeded by a follow up session next year.
