Wednesday 19 May 2010 – The National Principals Association (NPA) is set to discuss the implication of the use of cell phones in schools when they meet next week. The meeting will be hosted by the principals of district eight.
The issue of the use of cell phones in schools has been a long and heated public debate with government gearing to address the matter and hopefully put it to rest.
Public Relations Officer of the NPA and Principal of the Odsan Combined School Angela Boulogne says this, and a number of other important issues are on the agenda for discussion.
“Important matters down for discussion include the cell phone policy that has been an outstanding issue. We are beginning to realise that it is going to be a telecommunication devices policy. We also have a proposal for coping and dealing with children who display deviant behaviour. For many of us this is becoming problem, and we are looking at a suspension centre and to hear principals on the proposal.”
The principals’ association pubic relations officer says the meeting will also devote some time to the organization's work plan. “We have some set goals but we have to develop a plan that would help establish some working committees so we can be a little more vibrant in terms of accomplishing our goals,” Boulogne said.
The principals’ association meeting will be held on Thursday, the 20th of May at La Haut Plantation in Soufriere from 9 AM. The NPA’s president is Ethlene Leonce, Principal of the Dame Pearlette Louisy Primary. Vice president of the NPA is Sister Rufina Donnat, principal of the Saint Joseph’s Convent. |
