Tuesday, May 18, 2010 - The recent passing of Mrs. Pat Gibson Manager of
Radio Caribbean International and Mr. Francis Tobias Freelance Photographer is
noted with regret by the Government of Saint Lucia. These two stalwarts of the
local media fraternity have contributed immensely to the growth of the local
media through their input in the areas of media management and documentation
through photography.
Mrs. Gibson and Mr. Tobias were both pleasant personalities who approached their
duties and responsibilities in a professional but yet humble manner. This
approach caused them to be well liked and respected by their colleagues and the
Saint Lucian public. Although these two stalwarts were not in the limelight of
media work, they were able through their input in their respective fields to
nurture and enhance careers and to provide vital support to the news media.
The passing of Pat and Francis amounts collectively to a substantial lost to the
Saint Lucian media landscape. The Government of Saint Lucia offers its sympathy
and solidarity with local media houses and practitioners at the passing of their
two colleagues. Government also expresses solidarity with the family and friends
of Pat Gibson and Francis Tobias. Even as we mourn their loss, we should all
take solace in the understanding that the contributions of these two stalwarts
will ensure continuity and qualitative growth within the local media sector.
