Friday 28 May 2010 – Education Minister Hon. Arsene James, has congratulated the National Skills Development Centre-NSDC, for its efforts over the years in helping to empower the nation’s young people with life-long skills.
The Education Minister, who spoke at a sod-turning ceremony for the construction of the Black Bay Skills Development Centre, also commended the NSDC for recognizing the need to decentralize its services. He says when completed, the facility will provide young people in the south with an opportunity to acquire new kills, thus making them self-sufficient “There is a diverse spread of skills and it will give each youth an opportunity to choose the skills that interest them most, or interest them the best. It is because of this we at the Ministry of Education and in Micoud South in particular, support this project. Let us hope that the project will be delivered on time.”
The Centre is earmarked for completion by the end of this year. It will provide training in four main areas namely: hospitality, construction, agriculture and information technology and communication. |
