Tuesday, May 4, 2010 – Director of the Cultural Development Foundation (CDF), Mr. Kennedy 'Boots' Samuel, says the CDF is ready to throw its full support behind a proposed annual conference for artistes that will hopefully come on stream by next year.
The CDF’s Head, who this week recently participated in a conference which brought together several Caribbean musicians, says this unification of the region during the jazz season is a path to building stronger regional ties through the arts and music that should be capitalized upon during the time of Saint Lucia Jazz.
“I made the suggestion that we should do a conference like this every year as part of the jazz festival. It's a very interesting development within this tremendous festival which we have in Saint Lucia, because one of the necessities of a music festival, is to make us see ourselves develop a lot more pride in ourselves, help us see how beautiful and strong a people we are in the world.”
The conference which inspired the idea was called “Solidarity with Haitian Musicians”, was held on Tuesday. |
