Tuesday 18 May 2010 – The Government of Saint Lucia through the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Consumer Affairs and the Office of Private Sector Relations (OPSR) is looking forward to the final blueprint for the implementation of a business incubator framework for Saint Lucia by June 2010.
The final stakeholders workshop held recently, comprised several representatives from the private sector including the Saint Lucia Manufacturers’ Association and the Saint Lucia Chamber of Commerce, and was led by consultant of UKBI, Mr. Peter Harmon. The British firm was hired three months ago to undertake extensive research in Saint Lucia in order to determine which model would be best for the island in the context of its realities.
The minister added that it was the duty of the consultants to shape, craft, and refine a report that would form the basis of a business incubator model that is stakeholder sensitive and results driven.
“The main goal of this business incubator assignment is to produce a model that would create successful firms through a program that would provide good prospects for future growth and development. This current phase of the project ends in June, 2010, which is next month and is funded by SFA 2005.”
Senator Mangal said she is pleased that throughout the phases of research and investigation, both consultants and stakeholders reported mutual satisfaction with the level of interaction and exchange which had taken place.
The final stakeholders workshop and presentation took place on the 12th of May at the Pastoral Centre. |
