Tuesday, March 9, 2010 The appointment of a new ambassador to Saint Lucia from the Republic of Poland is expected to result in tremendous benefits for the two countries.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, His Excellency Jack Perlin, presented his credentials to Governor General Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy, Tuesday morning at Government House.

The Polish diplomat expressed his government’s commitment to work closely with Saint Lucia in furthering areas of mutual interest.

“Saint Lucia is a stable democratic state and we observe and admire your institutions and your development,” Ambassador Perlin said.

“We do not have problems with communication and mutual development because we share the same values. I see many possibilities for cooperation not only on bilateral areas, but also on CARICOM relations.”

In welcoming the new ambassador, Saint Lucia's Head of State noted that the country cherishes its diplomatic relationship with the Republic of Poland.

Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy says, the government and people of Saint Lucia will seek to strengthen corporation with the Republic of Poland in the areas of tourism and agriculture among others.

“I hope you can revisit an invitation which was extended to us four years ago for our minister for tourism to visit your country to explore areas of cooperation. Other areas of corporation can include the strengthening of our financial services sectors. We also look forward to the mutual sharing of experiences in the fight against financial crime,” Dame Pearlette said.

Saint Lucia established diplomatic relations with the Republic of Poland, in 2002.
