Wednesday, March 31, 2010  Minister for  Home Affairs and Internal Security Honourable Guy Mayers,  says during his tenure as chair of the  Regional Security Service (RSS) from April 1, he will work concertedly with counterparts to ensure that the organization increases  communication and networking with sub-regional partners.

Minister Mayers is expected to attend a Regional Security Service meeting on the  upcoming 20/20 cricket matches. While in Bridgetown the minister also intends to visit the RSS headquarters.

“I look forward to a very interesting year for the RSS. One of the things I made clear at the meeting is that meeting once a year is not sufficient  bearing in mind the security needs of the region I felt that we should be talking top each more often.”

Currently the RSS  is providing significant assistance in Haiti. Minister Mayers says apart from responding in times of disaster, the RSS remains instrumental in crime control and security.

Barbados will host both the women’s, and men’s finals, of the ICC World 20/20 cricket matches in 2010.

The Super Eight matches and the final will be played at the Kensington Oval ground.

Along with the finals, ten other matches will be played in Barbados between Friday, April 30 and Sunday, May 9, 2010.

Other matches in the competition will be played in St. Lucia, Guyana, and St. Kitts, with the latter hosting the entire first round of the women’s group.
