Thursday, March 25, 2010 – The National Schools Science Fair seems to be building momentum, with the display of more projects this year. Curriculum Specialist for Natural Science in the Ministry of Education, Moteilall Singh, has commended the participating schools for their efforts, adding that the focus of the fair is on learning and the sharing of experiences.
“Our top projects from our national fair competes at the regional level. Last year we did very well at that level. In fact, Kester Charlemagne actually got the top prize. His project was the home-made cooler in three different sizes. The project was rated the best in the Caribbean. Charlemagne also went to the youth Summit of the Americas. Exposure at the national schools' science fair allows students to be creative, particularly by engaging in research.”
Singh says the schools science fair is helping students develop lifelong skills such as processing, recording, and observation techniques. The science fair was held at the Beausejour Cricket Ground from the 24th to the 26th of March. |
