Tuesday, March 30, 2010 – Plans for the 2010 NCF telethon are running full steam ahead as the National Community Foundation launched its main fund raising activity yesterday.
Executive Director of the National Community Foundation, Juliana Alfred, said the telethon, now in its seventh year, should raise approximately $EC250, 000.00.
She explained that this year, the NCF telethon will be more diversified and interesting.
“There are new features attached to this year’s telethon and we are very excited about that. Parallel to our main stage, which is the usual, we’ll also have n in-studio events. In-studio, there will be interviews, performances and more importantly, a number of individuals—from the private sector, the media, and various corporate entities—that that have agreed to donate their time to serve as celebrities to assist in taking telephone calls.”
Patron of the NCF telethon, Governor General, Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy, in officially launching the telethon yesterday, says she is proud of the milestone accomplished by the National Community Foundation. She notes that the Foundation's main role is to care for the disadvantaged and differently-abled citizens.
The Governor General also stated that the new NCF telethon Jingle entitled, “We can Make A Difference” is timely, as it urges everyone to be another person's keeper, given constraints as a result of the global recession.
“I have been thinking that this National Community Foundation is really a big National Koudmain. We come, we give of our time, we give of our sweat equity, we give of our energies, our creativity; not only do we do it for the immediate beneficiaries but it is really investing time, money, energy into our country.”
The 7th Annual NCF Telethon which will be held under the theme, 'Caring by Sharing”, takes place on Sunday, April 25, at Samaans Park. |
