Tuesday, March 2, 2010 – Saint Lucia has a new ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary from the Czech Republic.
His Excellency Stanislav Slavicky, presented his letters of credence to Her Excellency, Dame Pearlette Louisy, Governor General of Saint Lucia, yesterday.
During the brief presentation ceremony held at Government House, Ambassador Stanislav Slavicky said, he will work vigorously to enable the Czech Republic's full participation in areas the government of Saint Lucia deems important.
“I believe that my effort will contribute to the strengthening and development of friendly relations between our two countries. On behalf of the President of the Czech Republic, His Excellency Vaclav Klaus, I extend to Your Excellency, and to the government of Saint Lucia the best wishes of personal welfare, as well as the prosperity of the people of Saint Lucia.”
Governor General of Saint Lucia, Her Excellency Dame Pearlette Louisy, has called for increased co-operation between Saint Lucia and the Czech Republic; a relationship she believes will work towards Saint Lucia's continued growth in the future.
“While most of our interaction has been at the international level—within the framework of the United nations and the European Union—we look forward to the strengthening of bilateral relations, and to the exploration of areas of mutual co-operation; in the trade and hospitality sectors, for example. As members of CARICOM, we also look forward to consolidating and strengthening relations between CARICOM and the Czech Republic.”
Saint Lucia has enjoyed cordial relations with the Czech Republic since the establishment of diplomatic ties some fourteen years ago. |
