Monday, March 15, 2010 – The newest group of correctional officers, is being reminded of their immediate task to improve and uphold the image of professional correctional officers.

Speaking at the 2009/2010 graduation for the new police recruits and correctional officers, Director of the Bordelais Correctional Facility, Hilary Herman also encouraged the officers to make every effort to improve themselves professionally.

“Educate yourselves and make every effort to educate some of the dinosaurs we still have around.  I say dinosaurs because we have officers, as supervisors of persons within our organizations who have not moved on.  I challenge you to help them move on to the best practice of corrections.”

Mr. Herman told the new correctional officers, that while government is doing all it could to provide in–service training, they too had the responsibility for personal development.
