Monday, January 18, 2010 – A major player in the cruise industry has responded to government's call to assist with the restoration of the St. Jude Hospital.
The Carnival Victory, which is a member of Carnival Cruise Lines, donated a much needed sterilizer machine to the St. Jude Hospital, last Friday.
The machine now enables surgical equipment used by the hospital to be properly sterilised at its temporary location in the George Odlum National Stadium in Vieux-Fort.
Ever since the tragic fire, sterilising had to be done at the Victoria Hospital in Castries.
Medical Director of the St. Jude Hospital, Dr. Chierry Poyotte, says the equipment will allow the hospital to continue providing quality health care to its patients.
“The donation of this equipment is especially important to the St. Jude Hospital, because we are unable to perform surgery without sterilising the equipment, so this gift from the Carnival Victory is well appreciated by the management and staff of the hospital”
The September ninth blaze destroyed all the operating rooms and the bulk of surgical instruments. |
