Monday, January 11, 2010 –  Chief Executive Officer of the RG Group of Companies Rayneau Gajadhar, has unveiled his much publicized project “Discovering Entrepreneurs—Generation Next” (Gen X).

Mr. Gajadhar, who launched the initiative last Thursday, says a country cannot keep churning out only employees and expect to remain economically viable.

The programme, which has received the full blessings of the government of Saint Lucia, is aimed at identifying and developing a new generation of future entrepreneurs and employers for Saint Lucia.

"The idea of Gen X   is primarily to target the young people. We are targeting forms one to form five primarily – the idea is to get people thinking about what has to be done after they have left school,” Mr. Gajadhar said.

Mr. Gajadhar and his team say the call is for the youth to recognize the need to   “think outside the box,” and come up with creative ideas for projects that can make them and/or their communities self-sustainable.

"Have we as the older ones moved with the times? I am sure we haven't but you know what we must do? We must the allow the younger ones to see and appreciate the opportunities that exist because of the rapid development of technologies and prompt them to come  up with new ideas to make things  better and easier.”

Mr. Gajadhar, who has allocated an initial sum of fifty thousand dollars to the programme, says it aims to identify ten projects for support and funding over an initial period to transform them from ideas to reality.

Every year, a team of judges will gather to select projects that meet required qualifications.  Persons with projects that qualify will receive funding, training and business development guidance.
